Exec: Rosatom can sign deals for 5, 6 units of Kudankulam soon
MOSCOW, Jun 19 (PRIME) -- Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom can sign contracts to build the fifth and sixth units of India’s Kudankulam nuclear power plant within a month, President of affiliate of Rosatom ASE Valery Limarenko said at a forum on Monday.
“We plan to sign contracts on the project (of construction of the fifth and sixth units of Kudankulam) within a month,” Limarenko said.
He said that in particular, Rosatom plans to sign contracts on equipment to build new units.
The construction of the third and fourth units is planned to start in late June – early July 2017, Limarenko said.
Russia and India signed a general framework agreement on construction of the fifth and sixth power units of the plant on June 1. Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said then that Moscow will provide a U.S. $4.2 billion 10-year loan to build the units.
The plant's first unit was launched in July 2013. Kudankulam is to consist of six power units with VVER-1000 type reactors.
